The ministry of industry, mine, and trade has indefinitely extended the permission for exporters to export steel products, according to the Iranian Steel Producers Association (ISPA). “Exporting steel will continue to be allowed with observance of set tariffs,” IRNA quoted Abbas Hosseini, the general manager of import and export regulations bureau at the industry ministry as saying on Sunday. Steel exports had been banned until late 2013, after which the ministry gave the green light to the exports from January to June 2014 and later extended the permission until the end of the past Iranian calendar year (March 20). Based on official statistics by the Customs Administration, Iran exported more than 2 million metric tons of steel in the year 1393, while the exports during the entire 1391 and 1392 barely reached 200,000 tons.
