Ilam Cement Company exported more than 1 million metric tons of cement during the past Iranian calendar year (ended march 20), IRNA reported. A company official, Hassan sabbagh-Bigdeli spoke of high demand for quality cement manufactured by Ilam Company, especially in the Iraqi market. The company exports 72% of its products, while the remaining is consumed domestically. Iran exported more than 17.5 million tons of cement and clinker – the raw material to produce cement– during the 11 months of the past year, according to a report published by the ministry of industry, mine, and trade. Iran is the fourth global cement producer and the biggest producer in Middle East. Pakistan, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan and Iraq are the main target export markets for the Iranian cement.
