The nepheline syenite mine in the northwestern city of Sarab has begun producing alumina, the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) reported on Saturday. The project officially started on Friday after German experts visited the complex. The resumption of alumina production – as the raw material to make aluminum – from nepheline syenite comes after a 20-month hiatus based on an agreement between IMIDRO and a German company.
