Major aluminum makers produced 30,577 metric tons of ingots in the 11th month of the current Iranian year (January 21-February 19), which indicates a 7% increase compared with the same period last year, the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) reported. Iralco, Almahdi, and Hormozal companies – as the country’s key producers – also made 36,627 tons of aluminum hydroxide and 21,545 tons of alumina as well as 11,843 tons of lime, as the raw materials needed to produce aluminum ingots. The production of the three raw materials during the month indicates about 1% growth compared to last year’s similar period. Based on the National Vision Plan, Iran aims to produce 1.5 million tons of aluminum ingots per year by 2025. Nearly 300,000 tons of aluminum ingots were produced over the past Iranian year (ended March 20, 2014), indicating a 7.9% increase compared to a year before.
