Iran’s second largest mobile phone line provider, MTN-Irancell, has announced it will offer “travel accident insurance” to its customer base, according to the company’s website. The new service launched in cooperation with Iran Insurance (Bimeh Iran) will cover people with Irancell sim cards fir a month period, which includes Nye Year (Nowruz) holidays. The joint insurance project is a first of its kind in the country. Customers of the partly South African-owned company can take up the service for 18,200 rials. The new service will pay out a maximum settlement of 100 million rials after Iran Insurance assesses the claimant’s policy. The company states that the service will be broadened to offer a host of other types of insurance at later stage.
