In a recent meeting with Iran’s deputy minister of communications, visiting Singaporean minister of communications and information technology, Yaacob Ibrahim, said his country is ready to develop cooperation with Iran in various technical fields. He said the ASEAN country plans to set up a new technical organization to help IT projects in Iran, IRNA reported. Ibrahim invited his Iranian counterpart, Mahmoud Vaezi, to attend a global meeting of IT ministers in Singapore on June 3. Relations between Singapore and Iran have consistently grown in recent years, with Singapore becoming one of South-East Asia’s large knowledge partners for Iran. In April 2014, Singaporean Foreign Minister Kasiviswanathan Shanmugam said there were ample opportunities for promotion of bilateral ties between the two sides.
