Major iron ore companies produced more than 21.32 million metric tons of iron ore concentrate during the first ten months of the current Iranian year (a period spanning from March 21, 2014 to January 20, 2015), Eghtesadnews reported on Saturday. The amount registers an almost 6% growth compared with the similar period a year earlier during which Chadormalu, Golgohar, the MIDHCO, the ICIOC, and Sangan companies produced 20.1 million tons of the concentrate. Chadormalu topped the list of iron ore concentrate producers, making 8.68 million tons, followed by Golgohar with 7.18 million tons. Over the period, the major mining companies also produced 8.83 million tons of iron ore pellets. The ministry of industry, mine, and trade recently unveiled the so-called Comprehensive Steel Plan based on which the country is required to substantially increase the production of raw materials for the steel industry.
