Auto Industry Off for Summer Holiday

Iranian carmakers and parts manufacturers shut down their production lines for their customary one-week summer holiday on Saturday. According to ISNA, makers usually overhaul their production facilities during the period and upgrade factories. They are expected to do the same this year as well. The one-week-long holiday always leads to a slight decline in makers’ output of the sixth month of each Iranian fiscal which starts in late August. For instance during the sixth month of last year (Aug. 23 – Sep. 22) 98,273 cars were made in Iran, 27.3% lower than carmakers’ output in the previous month. While the Iranian auto industry is struggling with various problems including shortage of raw materials, the firms seem unperturbed by pressures and have gone ahead with their customary summer holiday.
