Kerman Motor Launches JAC J4 Production

Iran’s second largest private carmaker Kerman Motor has launched production of JAC J4 in the southeastern city of Bam.

The company has already started the presale of the model as well. Officials with the firm have reported that Iranian car buyers have received the model enthusiastically, reported local news website Digiato.

Known as “Heyue A30” in the Chinese market, JAC J4 is a compact sedan from the B-segment. It is powered by a 1.5-liter engine, producing 103 horsepower, much more economical and in sharp contrast with the J5 which is already offered in Iran. The J5 has a 1.8 engine, producing 140 horsepower.

JAC J4 uses a CVT (continuously variable transmission), while J5 is equipped with a four-speed automatic gearbox.

In addition to the J4 and J5 Kerman Motor produces JAC S3 SUV. The J4 and the S3 are manufactured on a shared platform which can help the maker cut production costs.

Kerman Motor has put a price tag of 780 million rials ($17,700) on the model.

Considering the vehicle’s price and specs, the J4 will be a rival to Iran Khodro’s Dena+ or the newly unveiled SAIPA Roham.

JAC J4 is set to enter the market in August 2018, and delivery of the first batch of preorders is slated for September.
