Following a government energy-saving plan, Tehran Metro and bus fleet have announced the implementation of changes in their timetables as of July 7.   Tehran Bus Company is set to start providing daily services to citizens from 5 a.m., wrote the official website of the fleet.  “Tehran Metro will open at 5 a.m. and close by 10:30 p.m.; this schedule will be followed until July 22,” said company CEO Farnoush Nobakht.   With widespread power outages disrupting life in Tehran, the government has recently issued a directive requiring all state organizations to start work at 6 a.m. and finish by 2 p.m. as a means to use electricity more economically, in sharp contrast with the former 8 to 4 schedule that overlapped energy consumption peak hours. It is noteworthy that the given directive will not alter the arrangements for Tehran’s Traffic Scheme, and vehicles are to treat restricted zones as they did before.
