Renault has released its latest monthly sales report, which indicates that the French automotive giant sold 15,846 cars in Iran in February and accounted for 83% of motor vehicles sold by the firm in the Middle East.
According to the data published on the company’s website, Renault’s sales in Iran have registered a 17.8% year-on-year hike.
The statistics indicate that the brand has an 11.37% share of Iran’s auto market, indicating a slight 0.03% YOY growth.
The French carmaker signed a €660-million trilateral production deal with the Industrial Development and Renovation Organization of Iran and a local private company Negin Khodro last August.
Three Renault models, namely Kwid, Duster and Symbol, are to be produced in Iran under the deal.
Currently, two Renault models Logan and Sandero are produced in Iran by local carmakers Iran Khodro and Pars Khodro.
During the nine months to Dec. 21, more than 116,000 Renault cars were produced and or assembled in the country.
Vehicles produced by the French automotive giant in other countries are also available in the local market through imports. Some of the imported models available in Iran are Talisman, Scala, Safrane, Captur, Koleos, Symbol and Duster.
The company reports that it sold 279,705 cars across the continents during the period, indicating a 12.4% increase YOY. The statistics further puts Renault’s global market share at 2.78%.
Renault has sold 19,072 cars in the Middle East, indicating a 9.3% growth compared with the same period of last year. The French carmaker has a 7.09% share of the regional market.
According to an earlier press release, Renault Group is made up of the namesake Renault brand, Alpine, Automobile Dacia from Romania, Renault Samsung Motors from South Korea and AvtoVAZ from Russia.
Iran is the group’s eight largest market and Renault’s third largest market after France and Brazil.
