Iranian private automaker Bam Khodro unveiled a facelifted version of Geely GC6 on Saturday at Tehran's Olympic Hotel.
The upgraded car is priced at 590 million rials ($12,500).
Reza Zorufian, Bam Khodro's marketing director, said the facelifted version dubbed Geely GC6 Excellent has the same mechanical underpinnings as Geely GC6 sedan already offered by the firm in Iran. The vehicle has undergone significant interior and exterior design changes, local auto website Asre Khodro reported.
The facelifted car has the same 105 horsepower 1.5-liter engine, 4-speed automatic transmission and hydraulic steering.
Bam Khodro said the automatic transmission is manufactured by the Japanese Automatic Transmission Company that has cooperated with Renault-Nissan, Daimler, Chrysler, Ford and Jaguar.
Some of the features of the GC6 Excellent include automatic air conditioning, electric sunroof, 8-inch touchscreen, leather manual adjustment seats, daytime running lamps, multimedia system, six car speakers, two airbags and rear parking sensors.
The only technical change to the car is a software update on the engine control unit.
Zorufian believes the main competitors in Iran's auto market for the model are Renault Logan and H30 Cross. However, market observer are of the opinion the facelifted GC6 will face off with Brilliance H330, B30 and BYD F3.
Bam Khodro began the presale of this car with a three-year guarantee last week. It will be delivered to buyers in spring.
“We have sold 1,000 Geely GC6 up to February 20,” he said.
According to Zorufian, Tehran, Tabriz, Shiraz, Mashhad and Gonabad were the top cities with the most sales.
The small independent automaker signed a representation deal with China’s Geely for producing vehicles during the last fiscal (ended March 20) and launched the production line for Geely GC6 sedan in the city of Bam in Kerman Province in May.
GC6 was the first locally-assembled product of Geely offered in the saturated auto market. The model is an international variant of Geely MK that was introduced in the mainland Chinese market in 2006.
