Renault Megane to Return After Long Hiatus

Negin Khodro, Renault’s official importer, announced that Renault Megane 2018 will make its return to the Iranian market in the next six months.

Negin Khodro CEO Jamshid Hosseini said on Saturday Renault Megane 2018 will be distributed in the market sometime between March and September, according to the company’s website.

Megane has been vastly popular with Iranian car enthusiasts. The vehicle used to be rapidly manufactured in Iran, but its production was halted in Iran due to the imposition of stringent sanctions.

Even so, secondhand Meganes were well-liked and traded in the market during the long years of sanctions.

The new Renault Megane is offered in the world market in hatchback, sedan and estate body-styles. Sedans are more popular across Iran, because of which the Megane sedan is soon to be distributed in the domestic market instead of its other brothers.

Based on Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price, Automotive website Cars Guide has put a $22,490 price tag on the vehicle.

The vehicle is offered with various options and engines in the global market and Negin Khodro is yet to announce the technical details of the model earmarked for Iran. The most likely version will be powered by a 1.2-liter turbocharged gasoline engine, mated to a seven-speed dual clutch transmission.

Megane was showcased by the local automotive company during Tehran’s International Auto Show in Nov. 27–Dec. 1.

In addition to the Megane, several other models, including a new version of Koleos and Talisman, were also presented. The two are already available in the local market.

Renault is a successful car brand in Iran. Talisman and Koleos are among imported sedans and SUVs favored by Iranians.
