Belarusian bus builder Belkommunmash plans to sell electric buses to an Iranian company for intra-city travels.

According to Belta News Agency, talks have been held between Minsk Mayor Andrei Shorets and Iran’s ambassador, Mostafa Oveisi. Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Semashko had hinted at the prospective deal in December 2016. At the time he said that the electric buses are planned to be sold to Moscow, Saint Petersburg, and Tehran municipalities.

According to Iranian sources, the buses will be imported by local automotive firm Sabz Khodro. Belkommunmash is a Belarusian manufacturer of electric public transport vehicles.

In addition to Belarus, buses manufactured by Belkommunmash are used in over 40 cities in Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Mongolia, Moldova, Argentina, Colombia, and Serbia.
