Data released by the Ministry of Industries says the domestic carmaker Kerman Motor has assembled the first 20 units of its Hyundai Accent in the past Iranian month that ended on Oct. 22.

According to automotive website Asbe Bokhar, the model has a price tag of 980 million rials ($24,500) and will be delivered to buyers in the coming month.

The car is already available in Iran’s auto market through imports for 1.23 billion rials ($30,750). In other countries, it does not sell for half that amount.

Hyundai has branded the Accent as a “decent basic transportation with a whiff of sportiness” and the model delivers what is promised. Available as a four-door sedan, its 137-hp 1.6-liter four-cylinder pairs with a six-speed manual or automatic transmission.

Earlier this year, Kerman Motor and the South Korean carmaker signed a deal to produce Elantra model in the central city of Bam. Kerman Motor has been assembling Hyundai’s two small hatchbacks, i10 and i20, for the past year.

Some 4,196 units of the two models have rolled out of the company’s production lines during the first seven months of the current fiscal that started in March — 16% of Kerman Motor’s total output. The company also produces several Chinese-derived models in collaboration with Lifan Motors and JAC Motors.
