Negin Khodro, the local official importer of Renault cars, has launched a scheme for selling the brand’s secondhand cars in Iran’s market.

Owners can register used Renault cars with Negin Khodro. The vehicles will be assessed and priced by the company’s technicians, local automotive website Persian Khodro reported.

According to Director of Renault’s Used-Car Scheme in Iran Ali Marandi, the vehicles will be sold through the company’s sales network.

Marandi added that some 9,000 secondhand cars are expected to be registered for sale in the coming months.

The vehicles will be refitted by Negin Khodro and the company is also set to offer guarantee packages for them.

In addition to Negin Khodro, Iran’s largest automaker Iran Khodro is also importing Renault models.

IKCO offers Renault’s Captur priced at 1.2 billion rials ($30,000) in the domestic market.

Marandi stressed that only vehicles imported by Negin Khodro can be sold through this scheme.

According to the company official, the scheme is aimed at removing middlemen from the sale of secondhand Renault vehicles, which hypothetically can lead to lower prices. This will also help repair cars damaged during the import process.

Negin Khodro has also announced that the company will repair such vehicles and sell them through the scheme at lower prices compared to the models’ original price tag.

Currently, the service is only available in Tehran, but Marandi said the scheme will also be launched in other Iranian major cities in the coming months.

Some of the imported Renault models available in the local market are Scala, Talisman, Symbol, Duster, Safrane, Fluence and Koleos.

The French automotive giant has reported the sale of 68,365 vehicles in Iran during the first half of the current year, which marks a 100.3% YOY increase.

The company has a 9.8% share of the local market through imports and local operations.

Several models of Renault cars are produced by Iranian carmakers, including Renault Logan (locally known as Tondar 90) and Sandero.
