More than 300 firms are present in the annual auto event.

The 21st round of Tabriz International Automobile Industry and Spare Parts Trade Fair, one of the major auto events in Iran, is underway in the northwestern province of East Azarbaijan.

The four-day event, which started on Tuesday, is hosting a large number of local and international players in the key sector – both carmakers and auto part producers.

Expo Director Habib Mahooti said more than 300 companies are displaying their products and representatives of foreign firms are more visible this time around, local automotive website Asre Khodro reported.

Iranian firms present include Persia Khodro (BMW dealer), Atlas Khodro (Kia Motors importer), Pakro (dealer of Hyundai hybrid cars), Ramak Khodro (distributer of SsangYong cars), Bahman Group (producer of Mazda vehicles and Chinese Faw cars), Arian Motor (Mitsubishi distributer), Karmania (China’s BYD agent) and Arian Diesel (producer of JAC trucks).

Azhitechs, an Iranian commercial vehicle producer and the official representative of Belarus’s Maz Trucks, is showcasing several light- and heavy-duty trucks and busses.

Local dealer of Nissan Jahan Novin Aria unveiled a new model during the event — the Nissan 370Z.

The coupe sport vehicle is priced at $30,000 in the international market. The Iranian firm is yet to say how much will it cost in Iran.

According to the website, the 370Z is equipped with a 3.7-litre V6 engine with 326bhp. However, since imports of cars with engine capacity over 2.5-liter is banned in Iran a modified version of the car will be imported.

Jahan Novin currently offers several models of Nissan cars, including the Juke and X-Trail.

While important private car companies are present in the major auto event,  Iran’s largest automaker Iran Khodro is absent. The company had a strong presence during the last round in 2016, where it unveiled three models, namely a face-lifted version of Renault’s Logan (locally known as Tondar 90), Peugeot 207i and DongFeng S30 Cross.

SAIPA, the second biggest automaker, is represented by one of its subsidiaries, SAIPA Diesel which produces trucks and heavy duty vehicles.

During the event the company unveiled a new Volvo truck, FM 460, which is fabled as ‘the most eco-friendly and versatile’ truck of the Swedish company. According to the producer, I-Shift transmission system of the truck decreases fuel consumption by 5%.

Auto parts makers are also present from East and West Azarbaijan, Tehran, Khorasan, Isfahan, Alborz and Mazandaran provinces.
