Cherry’s operation in Iran has delivered its latest and most expensive SUV Tiggo7 to buyers.
The company is currently offering a “full-option” version of the car called “Excellent” that is priced 1.28 billion rials ($33,000), local automotive website Khodro Nevis reported.
It is planning to launch sales of a cheaper version of the model in the coming weeks, reportedly at $31,000.
Tiggo7 slots just above the Tiggo5 in Chery’s lineup. It has a smaller engine than its sibling, a 1.5-liter turbo engine with 152 hp. Tiggo5 has a larger 2.0-liter engine with less horsepower at 122 hp.
The model is likely to take on other mid-size SUVs like the Hyundai Santa Fe and Kia Sportage – the two South Korean brands are relatively popular in the Iranian market since the Chinese cars are still notorious for low quality.
In addition to Tiggo 5 and 7, the company is currently offering a sedan, Arrizo5.
All the models are produced in Iran’s southern Arg-e-Jadid Special Economic Zone near Bam in Kerman Province.
