Sapra Motor, a domestic car dealership, has received official permit from the Ministry of Industries to represent Opel in Iran.

The company has imported several units of Opel cars and is showcasing them in Tehran, local automotive website Persian Khodro reported.

According to an official document scanned and published on the website, Sapra Motor will bring 16 Opel models into Iran.

The models are Karl, Astra, Zafira, Crossland X, Agila, Corsa, Combo, Meriva, Adam, Ampera, GTC, Movano, Mokka, Cascada, Insignia and Vivaro.

Opel has had a very limited collaboration with Iran, with only brief spurts in exports since the 1979 Islamic Revolution and deals with private dealers in 2014.

According to Sapra’s public relations office, the first Opel model to be offered in Iran will be Mokka.

It will be available with several options and cost between 1.5 to 1.8 billion rials ($40,000 to $48,000). In Germany it sells for half this price.

The model will fall in the same price range as Alfa Romeo Giulietta and Mitsubishi ASX, but will not offer anything even close to the build quality of the Italian and Japanese brands.

Furthermore, the company says it will show the Insignia this month. It did not say anything about the price.
