AMICO Industrial Group, one of Iran’s commercial vehicle groups, has reached an agreement with China’s Huanghai automotive firm to produce the N1 single and double-cab pickup trucks in Iran.
The pickup has been put on the production line of Aras Khodro Diesel, an AMICO subsidiary, and two models of the vehicle will be manufactured, according to Carnet.ir.
Huanghai manufactures pickups and SUVs for East Asia markets. The company’s products are based on a deal with Japan’s Mitsubishi.
The N1 is equipped with a classic Mitsubishi-derived 2.4 liter four-cylinder petrol engine with 140hp and 200nm, having a 5-speed manual transmission.
Both versions will also have the option of an extra CNG gas tank for buyers. The gas-petrol hybrid models are likely to be offered as an option by AMICO at a later date.
The two-cabin pickup is priced at 93,000 Yuan ($13,650) in China, but considering the previous record of pricing by the Iranian company, the vehicle is likely to be priced at $19,000 to $24,000 in the domestic market.
