Of the 27 leasing companies registered on the Central Bank of Iran's website, five have been cleared for operations in the field, according to a new report by the CBI.

The five confirmed automotive leasing firms are Ansar, Shade, Karafarin, Azim Khodro and Shahr Leasing.

Other leasing firms cover consumables, home appliances and computers or vehicles like buses, heavy duty trucks, heavy industrial machinery and airplanes.

At the end of the previous fiscal (March 20), the total number of registered leasing firms stood at 29; however, since then at least two  were removed from the list.

Despite the large number of active leasing companies in Iran many of them are unauthorized with 94 to be shut down by the judiciary in the near future.

Recent reports from CBI show that over 300 companies applied for operating permission with the Company Registration General Office, Barely 50 got through.
