Iran Khodro has expanded production at its subsidiary plant in the northwestern city of Tabriz. The country’s largest automaker said in a press release that the production rate will increase 33% to reach daily output of 600 units from the current 450. Director of the Tabriz plant, Hamid Hajizad said, “The factory is set to produce 60,000 vehicles during the first six months of the current fiscal (started in March).” The plant produces two models of Samand, one of IKCO’s locally designed vehicles. The model has earned two stars in the 5-star ranking system of Iran Standard and Quality Inspection Company (ISQI) and is priced around 400 million rials ($10,660). IKCO has been expanding its Tabriz plant in the recent months and has launched production of several new models through that subsidiary.
