A local company importing BMW cars has received permits to bring in a new sedan, the BMW 530i, the latest of the luxury brand to enter the country in recent months.

According to reports published on the official website of the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran, Persia Khodro, a dealership that specializes in the German brand, has import permits for nine models, in addition to BMW 530i.

The other BMW models which the firm is permitted to bring are the 730LI, 528, 520, 230i, 228i, 225i, 218i, 125i and 120i.

The 530i has a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine, smaller than what might be expected in a sedan of this size, but recent advances in technology give the car’s engine a dynamic feel.

Output is stated at 248-horsepower and 350 Newton-meter of torque which the 5 Series sends to the rear wheels via an eight-speed Steptronic automatic transmission with paddle shifters and a selectable “sport mode.”

The company is yet to announce the price for the model which costs $52,000 in the international market.

Persia Khodro has been pushing ahead with plans to import the luxury cars in recent months with other expensive sedans also given clearance.

Earlier in February, the latest version of the BMW 7 series was given clearance. The car costs around nine billion rials ($230,000).
