Iran Carmakers’ Output Grows

In the last month of the last Iranian year (ended March 20), carmakers recorded significant year-on-year growth in production, according to the latest statistics. According to ISNA, Iran Khodro, the largest automaker produced 57,433vehicles indicating a 16.2% y/y growth. The company produced 49,447 units during the same period in  the previous year (ended March 2016). IKCO’s arch rival, SAIPA posted 46.6% growth with 47,135 units produced, observing a 14,982 jump compared to the number of cars produced during the same period of the past year. Kerman Motor — locally assembling Hyundai i10 and i20 in addition to producing Chinese Lifan and JAC cars — registered a 159.2% y/y growth with 4,740 units. Unlike its rivals Bahman Group — which produces FAW and Mazda cars — its production rate observed a 6.1% fall and reached 480 units during the one month period.
