Toyota’s C-HR to Make Iran Debut

Toyota’s C-HR to Make Iran Debut

An unofficial representative of Toyota in Iran, Irtoya is set to launch sales of the recently launched C-HR crossover model.
The sporty-looking model first appeared in the country at the Tehran Auto Show in February 2016, the local automotive website Asbe Bokhar reported.
The company has not yet announced a price for the model, however C-HR is available for $25,000 in the international market. It is expected to be priced at $50,000 by Irtoya after import duties are levied.
Observers say Toyota’s latest entry will face fierce competition in the saturated Iranian SUV market with several other quality brands present, namely the Puegeot 3008 (recently released) Nissan Qashqai, Haima S7 (much cheaper), Haval and Duster.
C-HR uses the brand’s latest Toyota New Global Architecture, which underpins the current Prius hybrid and helps deliver composed handling and a comfortable ride.
However, the C-HR does come in a hybrid version which could mean that import duties of 4% may be levied on the vehicle instead of the full 100% which is normally applied.
The C-HR and the Prius sit on the same platform meaning they both have the 1.8 electric motor assisted engine.
Externally, the C-HR is similar in size to a Nissan Qashqai, which means a decent sized trunk and reasonable head and legroom.
