Eurasian Conformity Mark for Iran Khodro

IKCO has achieved EAC certification for its cars, allowing the company to develop new export markets and revive its former position in markets including the northern CIS countries and Russia.

The EurAsian Conformity mark is a marking that indicates that the products conform to all technical regulations of the Eurasian Customs Union assessment procedures, IKCO’s own press service reported on February 22. 

This means that it meets all requirements and technical regulations applicable to the product, and that it can be serviced in all service centers of the producer in the territory of all Customs Union member countries. The mark came into use in August 2013.

This certificate is allocated to IKCO’s six sedans including Soren ELX, Samand ELX, Soren Turbo, Runna, Dena and 206 SD. IKCO can now sell in the CIS markets with custom exemptions.

Russia in which IKCO has sold about 12,000 cars holds 80% of the CIS car market demand. On the other hand, Russia is the largest country in the region and Kazakhstan is the entry point to the EAC Customs Union countries for car export.

The news of the certification comes months after IKCO opened its first Armenian dealership in Yerevan. 

Reza Naghedi, director for IKCO Armenia, said at the opening ceremony, “IKCO cars in the Armenian market need to compete with low-cost rivals. Appropriate after-sales service, and spare parts can help build a suitable market share for our cars.”

Iran Khodro tried to establish a foothold in the Caucuses in 2008, but pulled out due to the international sanctions imposed on Iran over its disputed nuclear program.
