Iran’s auto market will receive two new imported Peugeots by August. One of models to make it to the expanding car market is the large 3008 SUV.

It will be imported as a completely built unit (CBU), an informed source told the Financial Tribune’s sister website eghtesadnews.com.

In terms of price, the car will probably fall in the same range as other SUVs such as Hyundai Tuscan, Renault Koleos and Kia Sportage.  Further details and specification were not available.

The unnamed source said the Peugeot 508 will be imported in the form of CBU but “ is not likely to be produced in Iran as it is not economically feasible.” The 508 Saloon is a large family sedan which competes with Hyundai Sonata and the Toyota Camry.

The price and estimated entry date for this model was not announced. In October 2016 Mostafa Khankarami, Iran Khodro Company’s sales and marketing deputy had said IKCO plans to import a number of Peugeot 508s “to test the market.” The French carmaker has a substantial footprint in the Iranian market, especially over the past four decades.
