The share of Iran's automotive sector in overall gross domestic product is expected to reach at least 4% by 2025.
This is forecast as part of the goals and policies for developing the local auto industry enshrined in Iran's 20-year Vision Plan (2005-25), ISNA reported on Monday.
Share of the Iranian auto sector in GDP is about 2.2%. The figure has decreased by 0.5% compared to the calendar year that ended in March 2015.
Iran’s automotive industry is the second largest employer after oil, gas and petrochemical.
Recent investment by companies like Renault and PSA Group (Peugeot-Citroen) is likely to add to the growth rate of the auto industry.
