Hybrid Motorbike Unveiled in Northeast Iran

An Iranian-made hybrid motorcycle was unveiled in Mashhad,  Khorasan Razavi Province this week.

The motorbike has been designed and built at the science and technology park in the northeastern shrine city with support from the Ministry of Energy and the Regional Electric Company of Khorasan.

According to Mohammad Sadegh Ghazizadeh, head of Iran's Energy Research Center, the center seeks to help boost production at knowledge-based firms and curb the worsening air pollution in the major urban areas, IRNA reported.

The motorbike runs on gasoline and electricity, further technical details are yet to be released.

Pictures of the bike show that the locally-produced hybrids appear to be an upgrade of the old Honda CG125, which is mass produced in Iran by several bike assemblers.

The photos appear to show a battery attached to the rear end of the new two-wheeler.

In collaboration with the Mashhad Municipality, charging stations will soon be set up around the city to accommodate owners of the hybrid.
