Russians on Same Wavelength With Lada’s XRAY

Russia’s analytic agency AUTOSTAT conducted a study of the Russian new-car market’s taste for the Lada XRAY crossover built by Renault-owned AvtoVAZ in September and some of the results were surprising. According to the study, Tatarstan ordered the highest number of XRAYs at 123 units; this was followed by Samara region with 91 units, the agency’s website reported. XRAY has been priced at approximately $9,300 (320 million rials at market exchange rate).. In Bashkortostan and Perm regions, people purchased 86 and 74 units, respectively. On the roads of neighboring Udmurtia, residents bought 62 in September. Moving west, residents of St. Petersburg bought 60 cars. Parcs of Sverdlovsk Region and Krasnodar Territory ordered 59 and 57 cars respectively. In the Chelyabinsk region, people ordered 56 units. The top-ten among the regions also included Rostov region (52 units). During the month, 1,700 units were ordered, according to the official stats agency. The largest market for this model is the Volga Federal District, the share of which was over 40% of the total. AvtoVAZ has not entered the Iranian market since sanctions were removed in January, but several analysts believe XRAY would suit the local budget.
