Arian Motor, the sole distributor of Mitsubishi cars and Citroen’s premium DS brand in Iran, reported that the company’s sales strategy has proven successful. “Although DS was not well known in Iran, Iran’s auto market has received it well,” Ali Shokouhi, the sales manager of the company, told Persian Khodro. Arian Motor currently offers DS6, DS5 and DS 5LS. According to Shokouhi, “since DS6 sold more than our estimate, the company will extend its special sales scheme for the model”. DS6 is a compact SUV powered by a four-cylinder 1.6-liter gasoline engine that produces 200 PS at 5800 rpm. This model is expected to compete with the BMW x1 and Audi Q3. To sell Citroen’s premium DS brand of vehicles, Arian Motors opened its first showroom for DS on January 26, 2016, in the northern Tehran district on Andarzgou Boulevard. PSA launched its upscale DS brand in Iran this year to cater to well-off Iranians who like French luxury goods, which form a small but profitable section of the car-buying public.
