Skoda Confirms Interest in Iran

Iran is a market with great growth potential, therefore Skoda Auto intends to enter the market, the company’s spokesperson said. Tomas Kubik made the confirmatory remark when Financial Tribune followed up his last week’s statement to CHIA NEWS that Skoda Auto has researched the Iranian market and believes that its vehicles will suit the budget of Iran’s middle-class consumers. The spokesperson for the Volkswagen’s low-cost subsidiary did not mention which models will come from any joint venture with Iranian automakers. Skoda Auto is now active in more than 100 markets across the world, with the brand’s global sales in the first five months of 2016 growing to 470,600 vehicles, indicating a 4.6% year-on-year increase. Vehicles produced by the Prague-based company, which would be most suited to the local market, include the Skoda Citigo, a micro hatchback vehicle suitable for the urban environment.   Another interesting candidate might be the medium-sized Fabia hatchback.
