Iranian National Standards Organization is examining the standards used by the European New Car Assessment Program to apply them to vehicles produced locally for improving their quality, said the head of the organization. According to Nayyereh Pirouzbakht, the organization has held meetings with local auto manufacturers and the auto industry’s policymaking committee to help implement the latest European standards, Fars News Agency reported. Euro NCAP has created a five-star safety rating system to help consumers compare vehicles more easily and identify the safest choice for their needs. The safety rating is determined from a series of vehicle tests, designed and carried out by Euro NCAP. Pirouzbakht added that currently, car quality assessment has 52 indices which, along with the quality of standards, are set to increase. “The updates will be finalized by the end of the next fiscal year (March 20, 2017). The Ministry of Industries, Mining and Trade will have to devise a schedule for the implementation of the new standards,” she said.
