Minister of Industries, Mining and Trade, Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh foreign managers can help boost exports in different industries, especially the auto industry.
In an interview with Tasnim News Agency, the minister also said, "I believe foreign managers, who have a good understanding of exports, can help our local car industry and Iranian managers have a lot to learn from them."
Nematzadeh first raised the issue on Iran's National Export Day, which gave rise to several misinterpretations. Some groups suggestedthat the minister's well-intentioned remarks may lead to disruption of local industries by foreign groups.
In defense of the minister's opinions, Donya-e-Eqtesad, Financial Tribune's sister Persian paper, published an article stating that the best thing to do to fortify Iran's export network is to hire foreign consultants and to use the latest software and technologies.
Although export-based production is the main strategy pursued byIran's vehicle industry, data available for the past five years indicate that this goal has not been met, the report said.
This can be traced back to the substandard quality of cars and the lack of experience in the realm of car exports.
In addition to the issue of quality, the report goes on to say carmakers do not have the experience for undertaking exports on an international scale and are not familiar with the basics of sales management. It adds that foreign consultants could help ease a large part of these troubles and help maximize efficiency.
