Press and local dignitaries attended a ceremony this week to unveil the new Chery Tiggo 5 sport utility vehicle that will be launched in the local market later this week. The new Chinese-designed SUV was unveiled in the presence of representatives of the Ministry of Industries, Mining and Trade as well as a small selection of automotive reporters and car buyers in an upmarket Tehran neighborhood, Persian Khodro reported. Hossein Khosravani, owner of Khosravani Motors, responsible for the sales of Chery vehicles in the local market, said at the unveiling, “The Tiggo 5 will come with a five-year manufacturers’ warranty and will be the only Chery SUV vehicle made locally.” The CEO added that Tiggo 5 meets Euro 5 emissions standards and has been tested for both front, rear and side impact accidents while being developed. The car is expected to cost between 770 million rials for the lowest specification model with the price reaching 920 million for the full spec vehicle.
