Iran Khodro Diesel Company will soon be presenting a new truck with a capacity of 6 tons named Arena, said the company's CEO.

"Quality tests are currently being conducted on the vehicle," Gholamreza Razzazi said on the sidelines of the 13th Exhibition of Public Transportation and Urban Services that opened on October 30, ISNA reported.

IKDC is a leading manufacturer of commercial vehicles in the Iranian market.

"We have also been negotiating a deal with Mercedes-Benz and plan to bring the latest models of the Actros to the Iranian market," he said.

Actros is a heavy-duty truck often used for long-distance haulage and construction haulage.

According to Razzazi, Actros will be presented in future automotive exhibitions in Iran.

The official added that business relations between IKDC and Mercedes-Benz are progressing well and several other models from the German company will also see their way to Iran in the near future.

"IKDC will also benefit from Mercedes-Benz's technologies and knowhow. The new truck known as Arena has been fitted with Mercedes MBE900 engine," he added.

The engine will be produced by Iran Diesel Manufacturing Company, which is under license of Daimler AG. It will also replace the engines currently used in minibuses known as Arian that are produced by IKDC.

Razzazi noted that IKDC has also designed one new 7-meter minibus that has two doors and accommodates more passengers.

"The company has also designed two new buses with a length of 12 and 18 meters respectively, which are ready to be tested," he said.

The 13th Exhibition of Public Transportation and Urban Services will run through Nov. 2 at Tehran’s International Fairground.
