Baleno Hatchback Ready for Frankfurt Show

Maruti Suzuki, the joint Indian-Japanese automotive company, has announced it will be showcasing a latest vehicle in Germany's Frankfurt Motor Show this week.

In March this year, Maruti Suzuki had showcased its iK-2 concept car at the Geneva Motor Show, which shall now be launched by the name of Suzuki Baleno Hatchback (Maruti YRA) in the Indian market early next year, Merinews writes.

The car will debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show 2015 this month and will be sold through the Nexa dealerships next year.

The premium hatchback shall rival brands like Hyundai's Elite i20, Honda's Jazz and Volkswagen's Polo.

The car shall be available in three engine options of 1.25- and 1.4-liter gasoline, and a 1.3-liter Multijet diesel along with six trim levels.

Baleno hatchback will also come with a 1.0-liter, 3-cylinder Boosterjet turbocharged gasoline engine along with SHVS (Suzuki Hybrid Vehicle System) for international markets.

Suzuki has developed its next generation platform for this car, which shall provide better fuel efficiency and performance. The car has an overall length of 4,023 mm and features an S-cross inspired front grille.

The car will also feature a SmartPlay touch screen infotainment system, airbags, climate control and ABS with EBD.

The expected price of the car is initially estimated at $8,000 (ex-showroom Delhi), much above its popular Swift model. The car would be manufactured in India and will be exported to Europe as well.

Reports have also come in that Maruti Suzuki's upcoming platform in Gujarat shall be functional by January 2017.

There is no news whether the car will make it to the Iranian market, but considering Renault's announcement that Indian built Renault Kwid may come to the Iranian market, India's largest carmaker could follow suit.
