The sale of one of Renault's latest models is underway in Iran.

Symbol 2016 has been warmly welcomed by Iranian buyers, said Negin Khodro's marketing manager.

Shokrollah Shokouhi added that the popularity of the vehicle is a defining factor for Renault's future prospects in Iran, Eghtesad News wrote.

"This shows that Renault can count on the Iranian market and will present more of its latest models in the coming months," he said.

Symbol has proven to be a trusted brand in Turkey, where the car is one of the top favorites.

"We hope to achieve a similar success with this vehicle here," Shokouhi said.

Symbol is a subcompact offering from the French car manufacturer. It comes with only one engine, a four-cylinder 1.6-liter motor linked to a four-speed automatic transmission.

Imported into the Iranian market, it is being sold for 669 million rials ($19,970 at market exchange rate and nearly double the price at which it is sold in Turkey and the UAE). Customers receive 21% interest on their down payment until the car is delivered, which takes between 90-120 days.

Negin Khodro is one of Renault's official representatives in Iran and sells several models, including Safrane, Scala, Fluence and Duster.

Renault Pars, the other leading representative of the French brand in Iran, also "plans to launch initiatives to bring the company's latest models to the country," the company's managing director Peyman Kargar announced early in August.
