Bifuel and hybrid vehicles will replace more than 6,300 dilapidated Paykan taxis by January 2016, said the technical and operational deputy at Tehran's Taxi Organization. Mehdi Ebrahimi added that the organization plans to invest in green vehicles with the assistance of the private sector as part of a bigger project to establish low emission zones, Tasnim News Agency reported. "To implement the LEZ project, using green fuels and improving emission standards are a must," he said. To be able to travel in LEZ zones, taxis must meet the set standards and conditions. Regular quality inspection tests are mandatory and vehicles can ply in LEZ zones only when they acquire the relevant documents.
