A Chinese delegation visited Borujerd in the western province of Lorestan to assess investment opportunities on Tuesday. They toured the facilities of automotive factories in Borujerd, Fars News Agency reported.
According to an Iranian auto industry official, the Chinese investors will likely export up to five models to test the market in the first year. Production and assembly will begin a year later.
Reza Omidali of Morattab Khodro, producer of 4x4's, said the police, Department of Environment and Ministry of Industries, Mining and Trade will be the primary organizations to test the vehicles.
According to Omidali, the Chinese company is collaborating with over 12 European, American and Asian countries. The name of the Chinese company was not mentioned.
Omidali added that the Chinese delegation believes the area is rich in investment opportunities.
"A joint venture with the Chinese can create more jobs, which is why it is necessary for Iranian officials to lend extensive support to such projects," he said.
