The ministry of industry, mine and trade has announced its new car production target of 1.4 million vehicles by the fiscal yearend (March 20, 2016). Mohsen Salehinia, deputy minister of industry announced, said ministry officials are using the target as a way to test the auto production sector and to also buffer them from increased foreign competition in the months ahead, SHATA reported on Tuesday.

Quality will also be coming in for closer scrutiny as competitors add new models to their lines. Salehinia noted that this year consumers' rights will be safeguarded from any bad practice which may occur. The official underlined that the ministry aims to increase the production and exports level of domestic industrial products, specifically cars, and seeks to enforce warranties and efficient after-sale services.  Salehinia also called for the country's customs office, banking system, and tax organization to provide the industry with any help it calls for.
