Iran: 200K Households Struck Off Cash Subsidy List

Two hundred thousand high-income households have been removed from the list of cash subsidy receivers, the spokesman of the headquarters associated with the implementation of Clause 14 of the Fiscal 2019-20 Budget Law said.
“The deletion process was executed based on information gathered from various governmental bodies on individuals’ economic conditions, including whether they owned assets such as real estate or cars, held a job, source of income or their tax returns,” Hossein Mirzaei also told IRIB News.
The Iranian Cabinet ratified on July 7 the implementation of Clause 14 of the Budget Law, which pertains to Targeted Subsidies Law. As per the directive signed by First Vice President Es’haq Jahangiri, related governmental bodies were tasked with identifying and removing households from the top three high-income deciles within a month of the notification.
