29% Decline in Lead, Zinc Ore Extractions
29% Decline in Lead, Zinc Ore Extractions

Major Iranian lead and zinc producers extracted a total of 417,778 tons of ores during the first five months of the current Iranian year (March 21-Aug. 22), which indicates a 29% decline in production compared with last year’s corresponding period, the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization’s latest report shows.
Angouran Lead and Zinc Complex accounted for 389,895 tons to register a 31% decline year-on-year, while Nakhlak Lead and Zinc Plant accounted for 27,883 tons of the total output, indicating a 6% increase YOY.
The two producers extracted an aggregate of 1.09 million tons of ores in the last fiscal year (ended March 20, 2019).
Lead and zinc ore extractions during the month to Aug. 22 amounted to 94,979 tons, remaining unchanged compared with last year’s similar month. Angouran's output stood at 87,670 tons, down 1% YOY. Nakhlak extracted 7,309 tons, up 21% YOY.
