Iran: SCI Reviews Retail Price Changes of Food Products

With 29.9% and 267.8%, tea and potato registered the biggest month-on-month and year-on-year price hikes respectively

The Statistical Center of Iran has published its latest report on price changes of food products during the fifth month of the current Iranian year (March 21-Aug. 22).
The report shows the biggest month-on-month price rise for a food item in urban areas during the month was recorded for packed foreign teas with 29.9%. A kilogram of packed foreign teas was sold at 500,748 rials ($4.5).
The second and third biggest month-on-month price hikes during the period under review were registered for chicken with 14.9% and oranges with 10.3%, SCI reported.
A kilogram of chicken was sold at 145,118 rials ($1.3) and a kilogram of oranges went for 118,239 rials ($1.06) last month.
