Iran Airports Company registered 31,415 takeoffs and landings during the third month of the current Iranian year (May 22-June 21), which shows a 6% decline compared with the similar period of last year.
More than 3.82 million passengers and 36,823 tons of cargos were transported during the period, indicating a 1% decline in passenger transport while cargo transport remained unchanged year-on-year, IAC's latest data published on its website show.
The latest IAC report also shows 26,231 takeoffs and landings were made by domestic flights during the month, down 6% compared with the similar period of last year.
More than 3.05 million passengers and 21,827 tons of cargo were transported domestically, indicating a 1% decrease in passenger transport while cargo transport remained unchanged YOY.
On the international front, 5,184 takeoffs and landings were registered, down by 9% YOY. A total of 771,272 passengers and 14,995 tons of cargo were transported to and from overseas destinations, remaining unchanged compared with the corresponding period of last year.
Tehran’s Mehrabad International Airport was the busiest Iranian airport during the month, with 10,115 takeoffs and landings registering a 2% decline.
Close to 1.19 million passengers as well as around 8,021 tons of cargo were handled at this airport, showing a 4% decrease and a 2% rise respectively YOY.
Mashhad International Airport was the second busiest airport with 5,117 takeoffs and landings, indicating a 16% increase. It transported a total of 753,861 passengers and 6,785 tons of cargos, indicating a 14% and 10% rise respectively year-on-year.
Imam Khomeini International Airport registered 3,523 takeoffs and landings to register a 6% increase, while transporting 565,363 passengers and over 10,895 tons of cargos to rank third on the list of Iran’s busiest airports. The figures show a 10% and 2% rise respectively YOY.
Iran Airports Company is an affiliate of the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development, which manages 54 airports across the country.
