185,000 Afghan Refugees Return Home in Jan.-June

A total of 185,000 Afghan refugees returned from Iran in the first five months of 2019.
Of the number, 100,000 were deported while another 85,000 voluntarily returned, according to Afghanistan’s Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation.
Demand for Afghan labor in Iran has fallen drastically, as its economy has slowed due to US sanctions, Afghan television channel 1TV reported on its website.
Last year, more than 700,000 Afghans returned from Iran, according to data from the United Nations.
According to data from Afghanistan’s Refugees Ministry, 482 refugees returned from European countries during the first five months of this year, 382 of whom were forced to leave while 100 returned voluntarily.
