Iranian steel mills produced a total of 8.38 million tons of crude steel during the first four months of 2019, up 6% compared with the corresponding period of 2018, the latest report released by the World Steel Association shows.
Iran’s April output grew 2.8% year-on-year to hit 2.16 million tons, according to the Brussels-based international trade body for the iron and steel industry.
The country's world ranking improved by one place compared to its previous standing to become the world’s 10th biggest crude steel producer, the new report shows. 
Iran is now placed between Turkey (ninth) with 11.23 million tons and Italy (11th) with 8.24 million tons.
