USDA: Iran Barley Production Falls Nearly 10%

Iran is estimated to have produced 2.8 million tons of barley during the fiscal 2018-19 (US local marketing year) to indicate a 9.67% decrease compared with the year before, the United States Department of Agriculture's latest report shows.
Yet the report forecasts Iran’s wheat production to increase to 3.6 million tons in 2019-20 to register a 28.57% growth year-on-year.
The USDA has put Iran’s barley imports at 3 million tons in 2018-19, which shows an 11.11% rise compared with the previous fiscal. It forecasts the figure to remain the same for 2019-20.
Iran’s total barley consumption was put at 6 million tons for the fiscal 2017-18, which is estimated to increase to 6.1 million tons during 2018-19 and rise further by 3.27% to reach 6.3 million tons in 2019-20.
