Iran is estimated to produce 14.5 million tons of wheat during the fiscal 2018-19 (US local marketing year), to indicate a 3.57% rise compared with the year before, the United States Department of Agriculture's latest report shows.
The report forecasts Iran’s wheat production to increase to 16.8 million tons in 2019-20.
USDA has put Iran’s wheat stocks at 6.31 million tons in 2018-19, down by 21.69% compared with the previous fiscal. It forecasts the figure to decline further to 6.21 million tons during 2019-20.
Iran’s total wheat consumption was put at 15.9 million tons for the fiscal 2017-18, which is estimated to increase to 16.1 million during 2018-19 and rise further by 1.86% to reach 16.4 million tons in 2019-20.
