A total of 262,649 public complaints were filed against goods and service providers with the industries, mining and trade organizations of Iranian provinces in the last Iranian year (March 2018-19), which shows a 39% increase in number compared with the corresponding period of the preceding year.
Of the total number of complaints, 86% pertained to products and the rest to services, according to a report published by the Ministry of Industries, Mining and Trade.
Some 88% of last year’s complaints have so far been addressed, the report said.
Most of the complaints against providers of goods were related to bread, fruit, vegetables and groceries.
Restaurants, auto repair shops and parking lots were service centers accounting for a majority of the complaints.
Most of the complaints had profiteering, fraud and missing price tags at their core.
Iranian citizens can file complaints against businesses through the hotline 124 (that many complain don’t register the call in the first place).
